Community Leadership Awards

Are you proud of your community’s accomplishments?  Would you like your community to be recognized at our convention and more broadly through social media and the news?

In accordance with our mission of promoting the environmental, social, and economic well-being of our member communities, the NCLGA has created the Community Leadership Awards to showcase a community in each of these categories.

To nominate your community, simply provide a brief letter describing a community project, event, or program that you are proud of. A winner will be chosen in each category and presented an award during our AGM and Convention. If your community has excelled in any of the following categories, let us know:

  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Social Responsibility
  • Economic Development

Nomination Procedures & Eligibility:

  1. Nominations must come in the form of a letter to NCLGA staff. There are no requirements regarding the length and letters may be submitted in hard copy or by email. Letters must clearly state which award category the nomination is for.
  2. Nomination letters and attachments must be received by March 15 for the 2021 AGM & Convention, which will be held from May 5-6, 2021.
  3. The NCLGA Board of Directors will review the submissions.
  4. These awards are for communities, not individuals. Recipient communities must be NCLGA members in good standing.
  5. Nomination letters can come from anyone representing a local government, and there is no limit to the number of nominations per community. An official resolution is not required.
  6. Submissions from previous years may be reused.
Please send submissions to or 206-155 George Street, Prince George BC V2L 1P8

Benefits of Winning an Award:

  1. Your community will be publicly recognized at the upcoming AGM and Convention.
  2. A representative from your community will have an opportunity to speak (5 minutes) to delegates about your community’s initiative.
  3. Your community will receive a plaque to permanently display at your local government office.
  4. Award recipients will have their achievements highlighted more broadly through our social media channels and via a press release to local media in the NCLGA region.

These awards are an opportunity for local governments in north-central BC to share best practices and knowledge as well as encourage others to think outside the box. We want to share our successes as much as possible so others may benefit.
