Melanie Woods
Director at Large
Melanie Woods comes from the Nisga’a Nation, and is currently a Councillor serving her second term with Gitlaxt'aamiks Village Government.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding from various amazing opportunities including working with Indigenous Tourism BC, Grouse Mountain, and Nisga’a Lisims Government – from Nisga’a Fisheries to working for a crown corporation, BC Hydro. Each brought with it unique skill sets but most of all valuable networking and collaboration opportunities with many industry partners.
While Melanie works hard for her community, she finds time to volunteer and is an active participant with the Nisga’a Elementary Secondary School (NESS) as a knowledge keeper. As busy as her schedule is, Melanie balances her time with culture and traditions - through her passion of being out on the land observing, harvesting and gathering traditional medicines and food, she is reminded everyday why she serves her community.
